Windstream communications acquired NuVox Inc
While the deal is an attempt at the part of windstream to stay competitive with its cable rivals, according to D.A. Davidson, the company is paying for a dying rural phone company but with potential business prospects.
Windstream will pay $280 million in cash, and it will issue another $183 million as stock while assuming the amount of debt looming near $108 million. The company is planning to make use of its existing cash and to tap its credit line in order to fund the deal.
The move of the company is one in vogue, which is termed as consolidation, while smaller phone companies are scrambling to buy each other to boast their capital. The Chief Executive of windstream Jeff Gardner is hoping that this sort of consolidation will continue in the future.
This deal is company’s third attempt this year to acquire a smaller company. Windstream went into buying deals negotiations. Despite the pending deals, Mr. Gardener iterated that he was not concerned with any integration hiccups, adding that they are in a great shape from a balance sheet perspective.
The deal will provide a sizeable business presence for windstream.
