VDOT Road Conditions

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is responsible for the maintenance and operation of state’s roads, bridges and tunnels. The department with a mission statement like to plan, deliver and operate such a transportation system which enables safe and easy movement of people and goods with focus on improvement of economy and quality of life is serving the nation under Commonwealth Transportation Board. No doubt the Commonwealth Transportation Board that has the financial prowess to fund airports, seaports and public transportation, has established the country’s third largest state-maintained highway. With an employee number looming around 9000, VDOT is the state’s third largest agency.

VDOT operates the toll facilities at Dulles Toll Road, George P. Coleman Memorial Bridge and Powhite Parkway Extension.
