Tournament Of Roses Parade 2010

Tournament of Roses Parade2010 started at Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena. The 121st parade was greeted by a large number of spectators under a warm sunny day.

The Tournament of Roses Parade2010 includes 21 bands, 41 flower covered floats and 23 equestrian. With a theme, “A cut above the rest”, and the parade was led by Sulley who served as grand marshal. The American Hero will also toss the coin at 96 Rose Bowl Games.

The floats at Tournament of Roses Parade2010 were of different varieties including a multi story tree house to a 111 feet long single chassis float that was the longest of the floats in the history of the parade.

The float from New Mexico with its distinguished hot air balloons covered in flowers was the winners of Grand Marshall Trophy. The President’s Award went to City of Hope Float with its distinguished arrangements of flowers.

Mayor’s Trophy was snatched by West Covina for its float of Tuskegee Airmen. The Phoenix Satellite Television float was awarded with Director’s Trophy.

Bayer Advanced Float won the Queen’s Trophy; the float was depicting the history of the event. Rotary International won the Volunteers Award for its floral bear.

To add more color to the event there was Blind Marching Band from Ohio, the band that could not see the

colors but make you feel with their distinguished performance.

The Tournament of roses Association states that first Rose Parade was held in 1890. The Valley Hunt Club of Pasadena was the arrangers at that time.

In the coming years many alteration were occurred and new things were introduced during the parades.
