Tom Brookshier
Tom Brookshier, a former player and a star of Philadelphia Eagles, has died. He was 78. The news of his death was announced by the Eagles and it mentioned that Tom Brookshier had cancer. Tom Brookshier died on the night of Friday.
Tom Brookshier, who graduated from the University of Colorado, was picked by Philadelphia Eagles in the 10th round of NFL draft. From 1953 to 1961, Tom Brookshier played for Philadelphia Eagles as a defensive back. It was during his football career when the Eagles won the NFL Championship and was selected for the Pro Bowl two times. During his career at the Philadelphia Eagles, Tom Brookshier made 20 interceptions and was named All-Pro twice. His career as a football player ended due to a leg fracture.
Tom Brookshier was an Eagles star and was also inducted into the Honor Roll of the team.
After his retirement as a player from Eagles, Tom Brookshier served as a backfield coach at the US Air Force Academy for almost 9 years.
Broadcasting Career
In 1962, Tom Brookshier started sportscasting for a local TV channel in Philadelphia where he progressed well and eventually became the channel’s sports director. Tom Brookshier had also served at CBS Sports as a commentator for the network’s NFL telecasts and for most of the 1970s, Tom Brookshier remained a member of CBS’ leading announcing team.
Tom Brookshier had also made an appearance in a 1977 motion picture ‘Black Sunday’.
