Todd Leary

Former Indiana University Basketball player Todd Leary has been arrested.

Todd C. Leary, the former Indiana University Basketball player, has been arrested for involvement in a fraud scheme.

The court documents show that Todd Leary faces at least 17 charges for his involvement in a scheme to use real estate funds inappropriately. According to the court records, Todd Leary had worked with insurance broker Joseph Garretson. Joseph Garretson pleaded guilty of corruption in business, conversion/misappropriation of title insurance funds, and involvement in few other unlawful activities. The scheme caused a loss of $2.7 million, according to court documents.

Indiana Police arrested Todd Leary some 15 minutes before the Indiana University game with Purdue. He was taken into custody and was kept in Monroe County Jail, Bloomington.

According to the police, Todd Leary has allegedly partnered with Joseph Garretson between July 2008 and February 2009 to make the conspiracy. He is accused of committing several felonies. As mentioned earlier, Todd Leary faces 17 felony charges, most of which are Class C. He could face a penalty of up to four years in jail for each felony charge.

39-years-old Todd Leary has played basketball with Indiana University from 1990-1994. He played under coach Bob Knight. In 1992, the Hoosiers advanced to the final four of NCAA. At present, Todd Leary was working for Indiana University Radio Network as an analyst.

According to the court documents, a former teammate of Todd Leary helped the investigators to expose the conspiracy.
