Terrorist Attack Detroit
In an update to the “Terrorist Attack Detroit” story the person who allegedly tried to carry out the plot has been identified as one Abdul Farouk Abdulmutallab.
Reportedly officers have been watching his activities and his connection with terrorists were known for some time, however the man’s name was not listed as the suspect who has been restrained from flying.
As per the details of the story Mr. Mutallab had tied the explosive device from his calf. As the plane was just 20 minutes away from his destination the Nigerian born suspect extracted a syringe and tried to mix some liquid with the powder.
Apparently the plot went wrong when a passenger sitting at the back seat, suspected his activities and tried to stop him. During the struggle the suspect’s leg got burnt badly.
Passengers in the plane told the reporters of seeing some fire and hearing a ‘popping’ sound indicating that some sort of explosive is going off. AP reported that the device’s mechanism consisted of mixing some liquid with a powder.
President Obama, who is in Hawaii on vacations has been informed of the incident and has regarded it as a terrorist activity. As the investigation into the incident is ongoing, it is discovered that the suspect received the explosive material form an Al Qaeda faction in Yemen.
As of the last news all the passengers are safe, only one passenger has been taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
