Stork Craft Recall
Stork Craft recall, is second recall in 2009, involving its cribs that were made from 1993 to 2009. The British Colombia based Stork Craft Inc is the largest manufacture of drop-side cribs.
Stork Craft recall in the beginning of the year was made possible due to the efforts pitched in by a Vancouver mother who said that it took her weeks to get response from Stork Craft. Amanda Carkener iterated at CBC News that she spoke to many mothers about the crib and majority of the mothers got rid of that crib with drop side plastic parts.
The recall was issued on Monday by Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada. The recall will involve more than one million cribs in the United States and about one million in Canada.
The Commission warned the public to stop using these drop side cribs immediately and not to try to repair them at their own but wait for a repairing kit from Stork Craft. The parts of drop down side are mainly made of plastic and these parts detaches from the corners thus creating a space where toddlers could entrap putting their life at danger.
The Commission reportedly informed people that Canadian officials and Stork Craft were aware of 110 such detachment cases out of these 110 cases, 67 were reported in U.S.A and 43 in Canada. There were reportedly four cases of suffocation and 20 of child drop from the crib.
Amanda Carkener has very rightly stated that you could not sleep well if your child is in such kind of crib. There are rumors that phone lines at Stork Craft are continuously busy and their web site is not giving any response to the surfers.
So all moms pray for Stork Craft for having a child of their own sleeping in their own crib! May be then they would realize the disturbance a mother could feel in the presence of such an unsafe crib.
