South African Runner Hermaphrodite

Tests deciding gender revealed that the South African world champion is actually a she-male.

The test revealed that the world champion Caster Semenya has three times more male hormone strength than that of a normal female. Her sexual system comprises male organs inside the body. She has testes instead of female parts inside her womb.The 800-meter woman champion astonished everybody when won the world title in Berlin last month. IAAF had already begun the confirmation tests to identify the gender of the athlete even before the final.

The ruling body says that despite they have received the results but they will go through confirmatory examination by experts before they reach a final decision regarding the title. This will also be contingent upon the intimate discussion with the athlete. However, complete confidentiality shall be assured until November subject to sharing of latest information with the world champion.

The case is complicated and not a simple to jump to conclusion because of its biological intricacy. The case is not as simple as just black and white but a mix of male and female organs exist to complicate the judgment whether the champion is male or female. According to the opinion of expert, there is multitude of disorders between the opposite poles of normal males and females. Keeping the complexity of the matter, IAAF has not made a formal statement regarding the gender of the athlete.
