Solar Eclipse in India Today
The annular or ring shaped solar eclipse was quite visible in almost all over India and some other southern countries while for the rest of the countries worldwide it was seen as a partial solar eclipse. In neighboring country Pakistan it was also experienced as a partial solar eclipse.
A solar eclipse is called an annular one when the Moon is at a far distance from the sun that it couldn’t cover the Sun entirely. When this eclipse reaches at its peak, the sun looks like a ring of fire (Annulus) around the moon.
In India the eclipse started at about 10:44 am and it ended at around end at 2:29 PM (IST). This wasn’t the total range of time but duration in different regions where the eclipse was seen entirely.
The eclipse was seen as a partial eclipse in most parts of Africa, Middle East Eastern Europe, and Asia. While in Central Africa, South Kerala, South Tamil Nadu, Maldives, Burma, North Sri Lanka and China, it was experienced as an annular one with an almost 300 km (190 mi) width.
Rather it was an annular solar eclipse or it was seen as partial eclipse, it was quite dangerous for eye sight and warned by experts that to see directly to sun can cause a permanent blindness.
