Shear Genius

First episode of the 3rd season of the famous reality show called Shear Genius aired last night once again on Bravo Network.

Camila Alves is hosting the show finally replacing Jaclyn Smith in the 3rd season. The famous hair Stylist Jonathan Antin and Kim VO are the judges for the show. The well-known chic, Orlando Pita, is the adviser of the participants. 12 participants are there on the show and all of them belong to different places of the world.

In the first three challenges of 1st season of Shear Genius dummy heads were used in place of genuine customers whereas in 3rd season real clients are brought in the show to make it more real.

Shear Genius, the renowned American reality television show, ranks the contestants on hair styling techniques. Shear Genius merges the rules from Project Runway and Top Chef as the contestants entangles in elimination process unless the winner is found.

Each episode includes two challenges. The challenges are time based and limited time for additional supplies is provided if necessary in any case.

Shortcut Challenge is the first one. This one is not used to eliminate one of the contestants normally. The Shortcut Challenge only ranks the contestants based on their skills. It is done to facilitate the winning contestant or contestants with some benefits in the next test.

Next is the Elimination Challenge. In this each contestant has to stylize the hair of a real customer by using the given supplies. After the hair, the model is clothed properly and

walks on the runway in front of the judges just same as we saw in Project Runway. Then the judges holds the right to ask any relative questions to the contestants their style and work, if they want so. At the end of the show, on the basis of both participant’s work and answers, the judges decide the best and the worst.

The top stylist is praised and selected as the winner. His work is termed as best with the saying “Your work is Shear Genius” and the worst stylist is sent home with the show’s plot line “This was your final cut.”

Only the snapshot of the winner’s work enjoys the glory to be hanged on the Allure Wall of Fame.
