Septa Strike

Imagine what will happen if your favourite TV program is on-air and there occur the power breakdown unexpectedly. There is a more horrifying condition, the Spectrum’s last concert, the Eagles vs. Giants game or the World Series, the Saturday Flyers game and Halloween are going on and Transport Workers go on strike, leaving the public transportation of the city inactive.

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), transport agency in USA, is facing complete vehicle strike from Local 234′s 5,100 members of transport working union.

Union demands at least four percent increases after every 4 years, against a restriction on employee’s health influences at 1 percent and an upturn in pension benefits.

SEPTA have been facing income deterioration of 5 percent because of worldwide recession since it reached to the highest level last year. SEPTA authorities want to stop wage raise of its employees for next 2 years but promises and intend to make an increase of 2% after wage freeze.

On the other hand employees wants an upturn or increase in their health facilities from 1- 4 % and an increase in pension benefits. Workers and union have confirmed that they have been promised a raise overall but after 2 years.

This is very perplexing situation. It is unclear up till this point that who is being reasonable in demands, UNION or SEPTA? But the most important questions of all is who is going to suffer in this battle, employees, Union or SEPTA.

Nothing is clear at this point but everyone expects it to be clear in next few hours.
