Thousands of Americans awaits the Rose Bowl Parade 2010.

The 121st Rose Bowl Parade 2010 was held on the New Year’s Day in Pasadena, California. Rose Bowl Parade has often been referred to as ‘America’s New Year Celebration’. It is a festival of flowers and music which also features equestrians and a football game. Rose Bowl Parade is being held on the New Year’s Day regularly since 1890 and is organized by a non-profit organization called Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association. The Rose Bowl Parade 2010 is watched by thousands of the spectators who camped along the parade route while millions of Americans watched the live coverage of the event on their television.

Rose Bowl Parade – A Brief History and the Traditions

‘Let’s hold a festival to tell the world about our paradise,’ said Prof. Charles F. Holder in a club meeting the meeting attendees decided to organize a flower festival in which horse-drawn carriages covered with flowers marched the streets, the festival also featured polo matches and foot races. More than 2,000 people from the local towns attended the event. The festival was the first Rose Blow Parade but it was then named ‘Tournament of Roses’. The current name was given to the festival in January 1902 when the festival featured a college football game in addition to the regular entertainment activities.

Now the event also features band marches, equestrians, and floats.

Rose Bowl Parade 2010

Rose Bowl Parade 2010 was led by Capt. Chesley B. Sully who guided the US plane for a safe guide last year when a bird strike failed its engine. The theme of the 2010 parade was ‘ A cut above the rest’ and it honored everyday heroes of America. One of the interesting floats which were featured in 2010 parade was the Subway Restaurants floats which presented portraits of well-known athletes crafted with onions and tomatoes! More than 41 floats marched the parade along with 22 bands and 23 equestrians. More than 18 million flowers were used in the making of the floats.

Hundreds of people camped alongside the route to await the Rose Bowl Parade 2010 on Friday morning.

    Wow! The event is so amazing. Many people are really looking forward for the event every year. You would see all kinds of flowers and images and big structure all composing of lowers and they are all very colorful.
