Popeye The Sailor Man

Popeye, the sailor man is much popular among children as well as adults. This quite funny but very strong character with a cigar in his mouth and a spinach can in his pocket is not only a part

of my childhood memories but also of my mother’s and now it is a favorite cartoon character of my daughter. It is the legendary cartoon character of three generations and was first presented in 1919.

Popeye is not only a cartoon character but also a superstar or hero who always amazed the viewers with his wonderful spinach power to rescue his girl friend, Olive Oil from his rival Bruno. Children not only love the character but also get inspiration for spinach and olive oil, the best nutrients.

Today is December 8 and 105th birthday of “Elzie Crisler”, the creator of this extremely famous and much loved character. He was just 12 when he decided to be a cartoonist and at the age of 18 he created this magnificent and ever inspiring character, Popeye.

Google have a tradition of celebrating events and occasions around the world by changing its webpage logo. Today’s logo is to honor the best creation “Popeye” of the wonderful artist “Elzie Crisler”.
