Paul Malignaggi appeared more strong and aggressive and he did not leave a trace of doubt this time. The whole fight seemed under control of Paul despite the fact the Diaz stole few sharp bouts. Diaz showed much of his class in 5th round but to no avail, the Brooklyn Boy was more consistent this time to stay against Diaz’s bully rushes. All the judges judged a score 116-111 in favor of Paul Malignaggi. This time score card was in sharp contrast to their last fight in Houston, hometown of Diaz.
The last controversial fight had the score cards reading 115-113,116-112 and very controversial score of 118-110 that required the need of a re-match.
Paul Malignaggi managed to stay ahead with his punches while Diaz felt it hard to rush into Paul to score. Very technically Paul managed to keep him more at the side line making it more difficult for the smaller opponent to land his combinations against him. Later Paul described his strategy as this time he tried to remain consistent and bar Diaz to pressure on him.
29 years old, Paul entertained his audience by putting his hands behind him as to welcome punches. Paul Malignaggi has showed his willingness to fight anyone under his 140 pound class including very impressive Timothy Bradley. Paul also called WBA and WBC champions Amir Khan and Devon Alexander in his flamboyant mood after this win.
