Paraskevidekatriaphobia : If it’s Europe, America or Asia, superstitions are there in our so-called cultured, civilized and educated society. The most common superstition is that Friday the 13th of the month is an unlucky and wretched day, and since, in the background of that story everything will go wrong and unlucky on that specific Friday with the date of thirteen. Paraskevidekatriaphobics , is a term used for phobia or fear of Friday. People impaired with a melancholic, irrational fear of Friday the 13th. The word is derived from the Greek word “Paraskeví” and “dekatreís” and the meaning of Friday and thirteen.

Superstitions about the 13th of the month with Friday as being lucky or unlucky have lasted since very long times. It started with the concepts of ancient Romans devoted every 6th day of the week to their stunning, but futile, goddess Venus.

So Friday became the most important day for them. It could be assumed from religious studies that Friday is thought as the most important day of the week as in Islam Muslims buildup Friday as the day Allah created Adam, Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit on a Friday, and afterward both died on a Friday.

Christians think about Friday as the day on which Romans crucified the Christ. But as the number thirteen is considered as the unlucky or symbol of ill-fate so the Friday comes on that date is taken as the most inauspicious day of the year. It estimated, comes thrice a year.

Whether or not one of you considers Friday the 13th as unlucky, one must understand that this superstition, with others, simply stem from viewpoint or practices we all used, and continues to use, to elucidate, and to protect ourselves , from events and proceedings beyond our power and control in this complex and problematic world.

Only when realistic, factual and scientific bases for these attitudes and beliefs are excavated, and people do not disperse or drive out these the beliefs, but in spite of this use to cling to them, the beliefs and notions become superstitions. Today’s beliefs may very well be the superstitions for coming days. Its up to you to keep it as a believe or a superstition.
