Nancy Kerrigan’s father Daniel Kerrigan died after he was physically assaulted.

Former professional figure Skater Nancy Kerrigan’ father had died after he was assaulted by his son. The 70-year-old Daniel Kerrigan, father of former professional figure skater and Olympic silver medalist Nancy Kerrigan, was battered by his son Mark Kerrigan at his home in Stoneham, Massachusetts.

On Sunday, the 911 emergency center crew received a call about an unresponsive man at Nancy Kerrigan’s childhood home. The victim was immediately taken to Winchester Hospital where he was declared dead.

Some local newspapers have reported that Nancy Kerrigan’s father and brother had an argument before the death incident. Nancy Kerrigan’s mother Brenda has told the police that her husband received a heart attack but police has not confirmed it yet. Nancy Kerrigan’s brother Mark Kerrigan, 45, had been taken into custody. Police says that Mark will be arraigned with one count of assault and battery on a person aged more than 60. He will be arraigned on Monday. Police is investigating into the matter.

Nancy Kerrigan, a former figure skater, is now married and lives in Lynnfield, Massachusetts with her children. She was once attacked by her rival skater Tonya Harding’s ex-husband who hired a hitman to attack Nancy Kerrigan. Nancy Kerrigan recovered soon and participated in the 1994 Olympics to win a Silver Medal. She has also won a bronze medal for the U.S. skating team in 1992. During her figure skating career, Nancy Kerrigan had been dubbed as ‘ice princess’ by several newspapers.
