Michigan Smoking Ban

The house and Senate has passed a bill today to ban smoking in the state of Michigan. According to this smoking ban bill, smoking will be prohibited to all restaurants, offices, bars, workplaces except for cigar bars and three Detroit area casinos.

There is no need to worry about because smokers still are permitted to smoke at homes and inside their personal transportation, in Michigan.

The reaction towards this ban is quite normal. The governor of Michigan Jennifer Granholm is also in favor of this ban that is going to be effective from May 2010.

After the ban goes in action, Michigan will be the 38th smoking free state. Smoking is considered a health care issue, so it should be dealt as a health care issue everywhere in the world.

  1. Thomas Laprade says:

What if the governments mandated that all currently smoke-free hospitality venues MUST provide a smoking section to accommodate smokers, against the wishes of business owners who choose
to go smoke-free of their own free will?

That wouldn’t be fair, would it?
Neither are government mandated smoking bans.
