America’s freestlye skier, Michelle Roark’s husband was detained by the security officials after he was found without clearance papers near the venue her wife was practicing.

Mike hormell, Michelle’s hubby, was later released but was banned by the authorities to view Michelle practicing for her mogul race. Michelle was practicing at the Cypress Venue when her husband turned up to witness her practice run. He was stopped at the security checkpoint and was not allowed to go through. He later attempted to break in the cordoned area by going through the trees but was caught and detained for few hours.

Meanwhile Michelle jumped to her husband’s defense and called up the authorities in the U.S Olympic Committee, the U.S Ski and Snowboard Association to get her husband freed. The officials refused to interfere but later in the day Hormell was set free.

Michelle and Hormel asserted that they had indeed filled out the required paperwork but the authorities rejected their claim as they had not received any such application. Later Hormell was also reported to accept his mistake and praised the security arrangements at Vancouver in place for the Winter Olympics 2010.

Hormell has been together with Michelle for nearly all the world cup events for the past six years. He has been supportive throughout Michelle’s career and has been her luck charm as she has won 5 out of the 6 events she participated.

Michelle hails from Denver, Colorado and now only features in the freestyle mogul skiing race. She also runs a perfume making company by the name of ‘Phinomenal’.

After her husband’s distracting episode, it would be interesting to see if the Michelle really makes a phenomenal run after all.
