Massachusetts Election: Could Health Care Bill Will be affected?
Although the polls have spoken in the favor of Scott Brown, the Massachusetts State election would determine the future of Health care bill and other Democratic plans. The Senate passed the Health Care Bill with a voting of 60-40. After Senator Ted Kennedy’s death, the state had to call for elections for the Massachusetts’ empty senate seat. For these elections two candidates are competing neck-to-neck against each other – Martha Coakley from the Democrats and Scott Brown from the Republicans.
Massachusetts makes the 60th vote in the senate for the health care bill. If Scott Brown wins the Massachusetts elections, that vote will go with the Republicans and the senate voting for the health care bill will be reduced to 59-41. Such a situation could call for voting on the health care bill all over again and could even be detrimental for the future of the health bill.
Ironically, health care bill was a ‘cause of his life’ for Senator Ted Kennedy, and the seat vacated by his death is making the future of the bill doubtful.
Scott Brown’s victory in the Massachusetts election will also reflect that the general public is not happy with Democrats and, more precisely, with Obama administration as Massachusetts has never elected a Republican since 1972. If Scott Brown wins the election, it would be a wake-up for Obama and the Democrats.
The polls for Massachusetts elections remain open till 8 pm today. The voting has been conducted under high security and both the parties are trying hard to ensure maximum voter turnout in the elections.

Hopefully, this bill if defeated, will not be the end of health reform, it can’t be.
