Leon Russell
Leon Russell, who was born in 1942 in Oklahoma, began his career as a keyboardist while in his early teen. Leon Russell performed his talent in front of Tulsa nightclub audience, before moving to L.A in pursuit of a better career.
Leon Russell joined the legendary famed session musicians “Phil Spector” after moving to L.A. Russell’s became the part of several hits by “Phil Spector”, as well as “The Byrds”, Herb Alpert and numerous others. Leon Russell’s first song as a songwriter was “Delta Lady” performed by Joe Cocker back in the days. “Mad Dogs” and “Englishmen Tour” were Leon Russell’s songs, which made him popular among the masses.
Leon Russell’s once again came into the limelight, when he performed a Rolling Stones melody “Jumpin jack Flash” and another 1950’s super hit “Young Blood” at 1971’s George Harrison’s Bangladesh Concert.
Once again 1072 proved to be another amazing year for Leon Russell’s career when his album “Carney” rocked the music market, the album featured the hit songs “Tight Rope” and This Masquerade.
Leon Russell’s wrote super hit songs for other performers, however, the solo career didn’t work for him and he only received a limited success.
If you ask me I really started to appreciate Zac Brown Band after they brought out Leon Russell’s on the stage to perform with them.
