Lancair Iv P Emergency Landing Killed A Jogger
Pilot had no other place available other than Hilton Head beach and he went for emergency landing on the beach. Robert Gary was jogging on the beach and he didn’t have any idea about the plane because he was listing to his iPod. He got injured by the plane landing. The rescue and emergency management team from Beaufort County arrived at the incident place but failed to save Robert Gary.
The Authorities told that the Lancair IV P flew from Orland for Virginia when the problem stuck the engine of the plane. The pilot wanted to land the plane at Hilton Head Airport but fuel leakage and propeller problem forced him to land the plane on the beach of Hilton Head Island.
According to the reports, pilot managed to land the plane safely for the passengers. None of the passenger or the pilot got injured during the emergency landing.
According to the FAA, the owner of the Lancair IV P crashed on the beach is Edward I Smith from Chesapeak Virginia. The plane is still unmoved from the location where it landed and an anchor has been attached with tail of the plane to keep it on the beach.
Lancair IV P is a four seated, single engine, fixed wing plane and it can be produced in a home workshop as well. The cost of the Lancair IV P is around $275,000 to $375,000.
