Kiteboarder Killed By Sharks
The 38-year-old Stephen Schafer had been surfing in unguarded stretch of Stuart Beach, Florida, when he was attacked by several sharks, the lifeguard “Daniel Lund” reached Schafer a bit too late. He found Schafer severely wounded and unconscious; he was rushed to the hospital but didn’t survive.
The police said they are investigating the issues; thousands of sharks have been spotted off the coast of Stuart Beach, Florida in past few days that lead to the closer of the beaches around the area.
This is not the first time that Martin County Fire Rescuer “Daniel Lund”, who tried to save the kiteboarder Stephen Schafer was bitten by the sharks.
Lund was at the Stuart Beach around 4:15 P.M. patrolling the area, when he spotted kiteboarder Stephen Schafer lying on his kite about 440 yards offshore, which was extremely unusual, because kiteboarders commonly glide fleetly along the top of the surfs.
Daniel Lund sensed that something is wrong and started paddling towards the kitboarder, by the time he arrived the kitboarder Stephen Schafer, he yelled that he has been bitten by the shark.
The blood was everywhere around the kite and Lund jumped into the water to help Stephen Schafer, but found that the sharks were circulating everywhere in the water, he tried to use the kite as a barricade to protect Schafer and himself from the shark attacks.
He then brought kitboarder Stephen Schafer onto his board and paddled towards the shore with one arm. He said Schafer was alive and was talking to him but went unconscious in the half way to the shore.
