Kim Burrell
Kim Burrell is the prominent gospel singer and wearing a sober black dress she reminded us the transition of time and space while she performed her classic “I Believe in You and Me”, most importantly she dedicated this song to the special honoree of the night.
Kim Burrell likes to be known as Jazz gospel singer and this songstress is displaying a heady career graph.
The story of Kim Burrell is of a child who suffered from double pneumonia and battled with the illness for almost a decade and she started her singing career from the church choir while singing Andréa Crouch’s Hallelujah Praise. Kim Burrell being the daughter of a pastor in the Church of God in Christ she started her gospel career when she joined different choirs from James Cleveland’s Gospel Music Workshop Choir, Trinity Temple Full Gospel Mass Choir, and The Inspirational Sounds Mass Choir-Houston.
Kim Burrell released her first independent album Try Me Again on Pearl Records in 1995. Although this album did not receive nationwide recognition, it was enough to place her in queue to be signed by Tommy Boy Gospel and their album Everlasting Life did well on gospel music charts keeping it a number 12 of the Billboard Gospel Charts.
Kim Burrell’s singing career might have not touched those fame heights but her performance last night in respect of an evergreen singing legend was on of the best items performed at BET gala.
