Jay Reatard
The administration of Matador, Reatard’s record label said the sudden death of Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr. is a big shock for us. He was a zestful and energetic person, as full of life as anyone ever can. As a person and artist he earned so many memorable and brilliant moments in life. Matador Records said they honored to work with such a wonderful person and artist.
Jay Reatard started his career just at the age of 14 and he created a home-made demo tape and after hearing this Goner Records’ owner, Eric Fried signed him. His very first release for Goner was a 7” EP called “Get Real Stupid”. He was, basically a solo performer, love to sing and to play music like guitar. His first LP was “Teenage Hate”, released in 1998. This successful release of this LP followed by a second one with the name, “Grown Up Fucked Up”, and numerous singles. First European tour of Reatard came in 1998, when Lindsey was just 18 years old. His recent album “Watch Me Fall”, released last year.
We are feeling inconsolable at the sudden death of this nice person who made his name in the history of music.
