Golden Globe 2010 Nominations
Award season is in full swing and the newest additions to awards-related news are the nominations for Golden Globe 2010. Golden Globe Awards are Hollywood’s second most prestigious awards and the nominees of Golden Globe are among the most likely ones to secure a place in Oscar nominations too. Seeing the nominations trends in Golden Globe and Oscars, we can say this with confidence that Golden Globe 2010 nominations will give the hints about the possible nominees for the Academy Awards too. Interestingly, the voting for the Oscars nominations will end just few days after the Golden Globe will be handed out to its winners. That said, have a look at the Golden Globe 2010 nominations and see if your favorite movie of 2009 could make it in the nominations or not?
‘Up in the Air’ leads the Golden Globe film nominations with six nominees and it does not come as a surprise. Up in the Air is doing great at box office and with its excellent cast and fresh story line what else could we expect? George Clooney, Vera Farmiga, and Anna Kendrick have been nominated for their supreme acting performances in the film. The film has also been nominated for the ‘Best Drama’ category. Other films which have been nominated for the Best Drama include Avatar, Inglorious Bastards, Precious, and The Hurt Locker. The musical Nine has the second most nominations in the Golden Globe 2010 with five nominations. Other musical or comedy nominations were a little disappointment for me. The other nominations for the same category are (500) Days of Summer, The Hangover, It’s Complicated, and Julie & Julia. Personally, I think (500) Days of Summer is not a good nomination. The story was more like a ‘half-baked’ love story and I wonder what makes the movie qualified for this particular category?
Golden Globe 2010 will be presented on January 17th in star studded ceremony which will be held at Beverly Hilton Hotel. The ceremony will be hosted by Ricky Gervais, a comic actor.
