Gina Yashere
Gina Yashere is a brilliant comedian with a Nigerian descent and is currently living in London. Gina Yashere is a wonderful addition to the community of young, female comedians and has brought a refreshing change in the world of stand-up comedy. She is one of the very few artists who have been compared with legendary Whoopi Goldberg. Gina Yashere was titled as the ‘British version of Whoopi Goldberg’ by a Scottish newspaper.
Yashere was born in London, England and to the surprise of all of her fans she worked initially as elevator Maintenance engineer before starting a career as a comedian. Her career as comedian was started when she became a finalist in the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year 1996. With her brilliant work , Gina soon made a mark in the stand-up comedy and soon released two DVDs of her stand-up shows. She has been appearing on the screen continuously through her show Mock the Week. Her major TV performances include the comedy series The Lenney Henry Show which also gave her the utmost fame and brought her in the community of mainstream stand-up comedians. Gina Yashere has also worked as a panel member in BBC2 and is the first British artist who appeared on Def Comedy Jam.
