Evan Lysacek
The Russian skater, Plushenko, had initially set a score of 90.85 points which would have been difficult for anyone to pass on any venue. But, the reigning champion and member of the American figure skating team at the Winter Olympics, Evan Lysacek definitely had the target in his mind and looked really threatening to beat the score before just finishing 0.55 points short of the top score. Executing his jumps and moves in a superb fashion and with powerful command, the American was just ahead of the Japanese skater Daisuke Takahashi who had a score of 90.25 points.
Evan will now be the first one to set foot on the ice in the men’s final on Thursday after his name came out the first from the random draw. Another American who made into the final’s lineup on Thursday was Johnny Weir who finished sixth in yesterday’s event. Weir may not look like beating Lysacek on Thursday but he surely got Belbin, Lysacek’s ex-girlfriend, to be his new roommate.
The comedy of errors took place yesterday when Belbin, Lysacek and Weir had to choose from two suites. One suite had 2 bedrooms while the other had a single bedroom. Belbin had to decide between Lysacek and Weir to share the suite as both of the men had figured it out that they can’t stay together in the same room. Unsurprisingly Belbin chose Evan and Lysacek walked away with the single bedroom apartment.
