‘It’s worse than Eliot Spitzer’, says Gov. Mark Sanford’s sons on his father’s extra-marital affair.

Jenny Sanford’s memoir ‘Staying True’ is ready to hit the stores. In her memoir, Jenny Sanford recalls one of her four sons’ remarks about his father’s affair with an Argentine beauty. Jenny Sanford, the soon-to-be ex-wife of South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford’s wife, recalls in her memoir that she decided to reveal her husband’s extra-marital affair to their four sons before it became a national news. Jenny recalls that one her sons exclaimed that their father’s affair is even worse than Eliot Spitzer! Her four sons – Marshall, Landon, Bolton, and Blake were of ages ranging from 10-16 when their father’s affair was revealed last summer.

So, is the romantic affair of Gov. Mark Sanford really worse than Eliot Spitzer? Here’s a comparison of both the scandals and their aftermaths.

- Eliot Spitzer was not having a relationship with any woman, he had connections with an illegal prostitution ring and was escorted by a girl named ‘Kristen’ on some trips. Gov. Mark Sanford had an years-long extra-marital relationship with an Argentine woman who has remained an ex-TV personality as well.

- Both Eliot Spitzer and Mark Sanford were appointed at the post of state governor when their affairs were exposed.

- Eliot Spitzer had to resign after his affair was exposed while Gov. Mark Sanford is still in his office.

- Eliot Spitzer apologized to his family and friends and his voters

while Gov. Mark Sanford had forced her wife to let him continue meeting his mistress.

- Silda Wall Spitzer, the wife of Eliot Spitzer, stood by her husband even when his scandalous affair was revealed while Gov. Mark Sanford’s wife Jenny Sanford filed for divorce.

- By resigning as the governor, Eliot Spitzer lost not just his office but also his ‘superdelegate’ status in the 2008 Democratic nomination for president while Gov. Mark Sanford resigned for the Republican Governors Association. Gov. Mark Sanford is a term limited governor and is not eligible for a reelection. His governorship will end in January 2011.
