Cool and the Gang

“Cool and the Gang” a well known Funk/R&B band was formed in 1964 in New Jersey. The “Cool and the Gang” band’s real name is written as “Kool & the Gang”. The band went through several phases before becoming what they are today. At first they started out as jazz sound then converting to funk/R&B in mid-70’s when JT Taylor joined the band in 1978, the golden period for “Cool and the Gang” started.

The band “Cool and the Gang” once again converted from R&B to pop in the late 70’s era only to put their names in the history when they released the album “Ladies’ Night” while working with the producer Eumir Deodato.

The band “Cool and the Gang” released 4 platinum and gold albums in just three years while working with producer Deodato and JT Taylor as lead vocalist.

But it the their song “Celebration” from their 1980 album “Celebrate!” that become the reason of their fame, it was also the only song to reach no.1 on the top music charts.

Those late 70’s and early 80’s were the golden years for the pop-funk band “Cool and the Gang”, as they released over 4 top hit albums that include “Joanna”, Big Fun and “Get Down on it”, but their 1984 album “Emergency” received appreciation non of other albums received.

The band’s latest album which was released back in 2007 with the title of “Still Kool” neither receive much appreciation from the fans nor made any impact on the music charts.
