Chile World Cup Expulsion
Chile World Cup Expulsion is hinted by the FIFA that strongly apposes any governmental interference in the football matters.
In a letter sent to ANFP, FIFA has asked the association to announce related restrictions against the club and that too within next three days. FIFA has mentioned that if association fails to comply with its request, the matter will be raised before the executive committee of FIFA that is sitting for its session on December 3, 2009. The session in its meeting in Cape Town may consider the suspension of ANFP. The letter was addressed to ANFP President Harold Mayne-Nicholls.
ANFP President Harold Mayne-Nicholls commented that every one of us who have a little know-how of the football world could imagine that this kind of things would bring lethal consequences for the Chilean Football.
While talking to a Chilean radio station, ANFP President Harold Mayne-Nicholls added that Rangers action is disapproved in the associations through out the world and that could lead to FIFA’s disaffiliation of Chile.
The Rangers were demoted for breaking the 6+5 rule in Clausura Championship; the rule prohibits the existence of more than 5 foreign players on the pitch. The Rangers’ move of taking the matter into a court of law has jeopardized the semi-finals of the championship.
Chile has qualified for 2010 World Cup in South Africa, the place that was secured by Chile since its participation in the finals of 1998. If Chile’s suspension occurs; then FIFA could consider Costa Rica or Peru in place of Chile.
The positive hint is from Rangers’ administrator who has commented that he would withdraw the case if creditors of the club wish so.
