Chicago Plane Crash

A small cargo plane crashes near Chicago Executive Airport just before landing.

The small plane crashed in a wood stock and ended up at a river about a mile from Chicago Executive Airport in Wheeling, Illinois when it prepared to land, says FAA. Two fatalities have occurred in the plane crash including the pilot and the co-pilot of the plane. Officers located their bodies in the wreckage and said that they won’t be able to identify them until Wednesday. The names of the deceased pilots have not been released yet.

According to the details, the small cargo plane was cleared for landing by the Chicago Executive Airport when it went down. The officials at the Chicago Airport say that the plane was cleared for landing at 1.30 pm. The plane took off from Detroit about 90 minutes ago. It was scheduled to pick up cargo from the Chicago Executive airport. The plane had to ferry the cargo to Atlanta. Officials say that the Learjet 35A was owned by Royal Air Charter of Waterford, Michigan.

The debris of the crashes plane was scattered in a wood stock of Cook County. The plane’s fuselage was found in the Des Plaines River and the river water was slick with leaked fuel.

The NTSB teams arrived at Chicago Executive Airport to investigate the crash but the officials say that no immediate reason can be offered about the crash. The Chicago Executive Airport officials say that the pilots did not report any problem in the plane and that no alert was declared by the plane crew before the crash.

Chicago Executive Airport is the state’s forth busiest airport. The airport, formerly known as Palwaukee Airport, is located in the northwest of downtown Chicago. Chicago Airport saw its last crash in January 2006 when a Cessna plane crashed into a storage yard of a construction company as it approached the airport. The crash killed four Chicago-based executives.
