Burton Group Acquired by Gartner

Another major corporate deal: Gartner has acquired Burton Group.

Burton Group’s CEO Jamie Lewis released a statement today in which he stated that Burton Group will be a significant addition to Gartner’s portfolio. It is being reported that the deal was made on December 30 and that Gartner has acquired Burton Group for $56 million.

Gartner’s CEO Gene Hall says that the deal has given a ‘great strategic fit’ to the company. Gartner made the acquisition of Burton Group by paying approximate $56 million in cash and believes that the deal will increase the per-share income of the Gartner. Gartner believes that it will increase its shares by at least 40 cent. Shares of Gartner closed at $18.70 on Monday.

Before closing the deal with Burton Group, Gartner made a payment of $63 million to acquire another firm. The integration details of the Gartner-Burton deal will be revealed later.

Experts say the Gartner-Burton deal will boost Gartner’s reputation while at the same time it makes them wonder where would the analyst business go in future?

After acquiring Burton Group, Gartner has definitely made its scope widened but at the same time narrow focus companies could take advantage from this deal too, say experts.

Burton Group is a research firm with more than 41 research analysts and experts and about 40 client and sales associations. Burton Group focuses on technically more deep advice to mainstream IT professionals.

Burton Group comes with projected revenue of around $30 million of year 2009.
